Using Online Banking
The requirements for access to an online banking service vary from bank to bank; however the basic requirements for almost all services are a home computer with internet access.
To get set up to access online banking your first step will be to register for the service with your bank; this will either be an online facility with your current bank, or a new account with an online-only bank. The bank will normally supply you with a special password, access code or number to remember - your online banking ID.
A number of banks also offer access to special software for your home computer that will allow you to integrate the online banking service with popular home accounting software, such as Intuit's Quicken or Microsoft Money, or offer the ability to download information in certain formats that are compatible with spreadsheet programs, such as Lotus 1-2-3 or Microsoft Excel.
