Types of Bank Account

US bank account types can broadly be divided into five types: basic checking accounts, interest-bearing checking accounts, savings accounts, money market deposit accounts, and certificates of deposit. Most banks offer all of these types of accounts, and all five are insured by the FDIC (in most cases, up to $100,000 per account).
