Wood Preparation

Before you start any work on finishing or coloring wood, you must make sure that all the surfaces are properly prepared, to enable you to apply any treatment effectively, and to end up with a professional finish.

How you'll prepare will depend on the condition of the existing finishes - you'll treat old wood that may be cracked, blistered, or flaking quite differently from new wood.
